Explosion at Bentley, Doncaster

Epworth Court Residents Return

Following the gas explosion which took place on Sunday morning the 13th June 2010 at Epworth Court in Bentley residents whose homes were not damaged irreparably by the blast have begun to return home. The picture below was taken week commencing 4th October and shows the properties have returned to a degree of normality.

Our contractor the Burngreave Building Company have carried out work to the roofs and windows damaged by the blast as well as a range of other works.

All of the 6 residents who lost their homes have moved into new properties and we are grateful for the help of Doncaster Council, St Leger Homes and Housing 21 for helping us bring this about.

We have begun discussions around the options for rebuilding on the site and this process will continue over the coming months.

The association remains appreciative of the understanding that the residents and their family and friends have shown since the explosion and throughout the process. Our thanks once again go out to all of those individuals and agencies who have helped us deal with the aftermath of the explosion whose support has been invaluable.
