Lightning Strikes Twice

SYHA’s NEAT team save the day

Many people have suffered in the recent bad weather due to burst pipes and water leaks. However, the residents of Aldersgate Court in Maltby, Rotherham, suffered a double blow. In the week before Christmas they suffered a burst pipe which flooded the kitchen in the communal building. Help was at hand in the shape of Joe Jama, the Neighbourhood Environmental Action Team (NEAT) cleaner. His hard work enabled the Christmas Party to go ahead as planned and a Community Grant helped with the extra cost of food as the kitchen could not be used.

Between Christmas and New Year they suffered a further burst which not only flooded the kitchen but also the Communal Lounge. Again Joe was on hand to clean up and dry out the carpets, this enabled the New Year festivities and other events to still take place.

Aldersgate Court Community Group has nominated Joe for a ‘Good to Great’ award in recognition of all his hard work.
