As your landlord, SYHA has a duty to all tenants to carry out annual gas safety checks on every property and you have a duty to allow us access.
Safety checks are part of your legal rights. They ensure that your appliances are working effectively and guard against the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning. If you don’t think you have had a gas safety check from us in the last 12 months please call the free phone number 0800 1380 380.
If you or someone else is concerned about gas safety, call the Health and Safety Executive Gas Safety Advice Line on 0800 300 363 or Transco’s Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
Most people are happy to welcome us into their homes to do the gas safety checks. They like to know their gas boilers are working properly and that they are safe. But some tenants won’t let us in. Where this happens we can request a court injunction and it can result in the tenant losing their home. This wastes a lot of time and money for SYHA.
We would like to reward those customers who honour their first appointment with our contractors. From April 2010 we will be putting those addresses into a prize draw for the chance to win £100. There will be two draws: one in November for the properties serviced April to October and one in May for the properties serviced November to April. Our aim is to safeguard our customers, your families and the areas where you live.
