SYHA are the largest provider of care and supported housing in the region. We aim to provide high quality, effective and cost efficient care and support services. We offer a range of services, from registered care homes through to support to people in their own homes. We aim to offer users services which reflect their needs and aspirations, and increase choices and opportunities available to them.

The directorate as a whole is responsible for:

• 600 supported accommodation bedspaces in partnership with 26 voluntary sector agencies. These provide services in registered and non-registered supported housing services to the following user groups
  • Mental Health
  • Learning Difficulties
  • Ex Offenders
  • Homeless
  • Women leaving violence
  • Substance mis-use
  • Young People leaving Care
  • Refugees
• 430 supported bedspaces in nursing homes or registered care homes in partnership with social services departments and NHS Trusts providing care to the following user groups:
  • Learning difficulties
  • Older adults with dementia
• Over 500 community support placements. There are two types of service provided. First, we provide floating support services, where our staff work with vulnerable people in their own homes, to enable them to develop life skills that promote their independence. Second we also have several services where community based accommodation is provided along with support. We work with local housing providers to enable our customers to access accommodation, including using some of our own housing stock.
  
  Our community support services work with a range of user groups, principally:
  • older people
  • people with a mental health problem
  • people who have a history of homelessness

A team of Quality Assurance Officers who provide monitoring to all services provided through the directorate ensuring that all required standards are maintained.
