Ways to pay your rent
You are responsible for paying your rent every Monday for the coming week. You can do this in a number of ways:
Using your Allpay swipe card
When you start your tenancy we arrange for you to be sent an Allpay swipe card. Contact your local office if you do not receive a card with in a month of your moving in date.
You can use your card to pay your rent to us in the following ways:
- Post Office
You can use the card at any Post Office to make cash or cheque payments. If paying by cheque you will need your guarantee card and to make the cheque payable to 'Post Office Counters Limited'
- e-pay
e-pay is a national network for the payment of household bills. Using the card you can make cash payments at 6,000 outlets such as shops and garages across the country.
- PAYzone
Similar to e-pay but you have the option to pay by either cash or debit/bank card at 14,000 outlets.
Making a payment using your card is simple and there is no cost to you for using the card
- Present the card with your payment
- Your payment will be processed
- The card will be returned to you with a receipt. The receipt is your proof of payment. We have provided you with a wallet to keep you card and receipts safe.
You can also use your card to make payments through the internet
- Internet
If you have internet access you can make secure online payments 24 hours a day. Visit www.allpay.net and then click on "make a payment". You will need your card and your debit or credit card to hand.
Other ways you can pay
- By Post
You can send cheques, including Housing Benefit cheques to us through the post. Please remember to write your name, address and tenant reference number on the back. We cannot accept post dated cheques (cheques with a date in the future written on them).
- Direct Debit
A direct debit is a payment made directly from your Bank or Building Society account that can be amended automatically if your rent changes. It is free to set up a direct debit.
Contact your local office for a direct debit form.
- Telephone
There is a telephone line you can call 24hrs a day and make a payment using your debit/bank card payment. The number you need to call is 0870 7700472. Calls are charged at national rates.
- Cash payments at our Rotherham office
For security reasons we so not accept cash at any of our offices except the Rotherham office.
What if I can't pay?
If you have difficulties paying your rent it is important that you contact your housing worker immediately. Your housing worker can help you make sure that you are receiving all the benefits you are entitled to. If you are behind with your rent, we will try to make an agreement with you to pay off some of what you owe every week. However, if this fails, SYHA will be forced to take legal action which could result in you losing your home.
