South Yorkshire Housing Association placed 48 on Best Companies to work for in Yorkshire
South Yorkshire Housing Association has been named one of Yorkshire’s Best Companies to work for in 2019. Not only did they place 48th on the 75-strong list but they are the only housing association represented.
The list recognises organisations that are leading the field in creating engaging and exciting workplaces and, the research complied by Best Companies has found the more highly engaged an organisation is, the happier the people are.
Formed in 1972, South Yorkshire Housing Association has over 6,000 properties across South Yorkshire and employs 630 staff.
The good news doesn’t stop there, as South Yorkshire Housing Association also placed 54th on The Sunday Times Best 100 Companies (Not-For-Profit) To Work For and 16th on 24housing’s Top 25 Housing Associations to work for list.
These lists represent organisations with the highest Best Companies Index scores and are created based on detailed feedback from staff at every organisation surveyed. The survey asks staff for an honest assessment on a range of topics, from what they think about leadership, managers and their team, to rating their wellbeing, personal growth opportunities and how engaged they feel.
This is the fourth time the organisation has been recognised for developing, managing and encouraging staff’s personal growth, improving their customer service and being at the forefront of innovative changes surrounding sustainability.
The key message that’s been highlighted in each listing was that South Yorkshire Housing Association still fulfils its original purpose of providing homes to those most in need.
Tony Stacey, Chief Executive at South Yorkshire Housing Association, said: “I am delighted that we continue to do so well on staff engagement. Over the last year I have been really struck by both the high number of excellent people who just want to come and work for us, and the numbers of people who return to work with us once again.”
Tony Stacey added: “This strengthens our belief that our people see SYHA as a friendly place, driven by strong values and are empowered to do the best work of their lives. I would like to thank each and every one of them for making us one of the best places to work in the country.”
