We campaign on the issues that matter to our tenants and to the housing sector. We believe that everybody deserves a safe, affordable and stable home, and that everybody should have opportunities and support to live well and to flourish.
We’ve campaigned on issues such as removing the LHA Cap for supported housing, and National Housing Federation’s #homesforbritain campaign.
These are some of the campaigns we’re working on at the moment.
See the Person
We support See the Person – a campaign to end stereotypes of people living in social housing. Alongside 14 other housing associations, we’ve campaigned for fair representation of our tenants in the press. We’ve also loved sharing lots of stories from some of our brilliant tenants – you can watch some of their videos below!
We’re part of PlaceShapers, a national network of community-based social housing providers. We believe that a good home is the foundation for a good life, and that everyone in our communities should be empowered to fulfil their aspirations.
We Care about our tenants, and their homes and wellbeing. We Build by contributing to increasing housing supply. We Share and influence by creating partnerships, campaigning and lobbying, and learning from others.
Together with Tenants
Together with Tenants was launched by the National Housing Federation as a collective ambition to build a collaborative, balanced relationship between housing associations and their tenants. 130 Housing Associations – including us! – have signed up as trailblazers, and we’re looking at how we can work different with our tenants in the future.
At our first Together With Tenants meeting – a working group of Housing Associations, ALMOs and Local Authorities from Sheffield City Region – Ed Miliband agreed to come along to speak about Shelter’s Vision for Social Housing report. Ed Miliband was one of the commissioners for the report, and Chapter 6 is all about the relationship between social housing tenants and their landlord.
We’re continuing to work with this group and our tenants to work on the Together With Tenants four-point plan for delivering real change. And, in Summer 2020, we’ll meet with Ed Miliband again to report on the progress we’ve made.
