On Wednesday 17 December, we’re inviting people aged 18-25 years old in Maltby to tell us about their experience of life in the town – what they love, and where they would like to see change.

We’re running a drop-in session at Maltby Leisure Centre between 2pm until 6pm and you can come along at any time.

It will take about 20 minutes and you’ll receive a £10 retail voucher. You’ll also be entered into a prize draw to win £100. If you can’t make it in person, we have an online survey that you can complete to be entered into the prize draw.

We want to hear from you because we’re applying for funding for two Youth Peer Support Workers to work in Maltby. The feedback you share at the drop-in sessions will form a crucial part of our application because we will be able to show, through your real-life examples, that there are opportunities to improve things in Maltby for young people.

Young people are currently underrepresented on our board and committees and we want to change this. If our bid is successful, the Youth Peer Support Workers will work in the Maltby community alongside other SYHA colleagues. They will work with young people in the town, particularly our social housing tenants, so that they can feed people’s real experiences and aspirations directly into our customer voice forum, Customer Committee and Customer Scrutiny Panel. These groups will then take the feedback and use it to shape the services we offer in Maltby and how we offer them.

As part of our bid, we are also asking for funding for projects that will have a direct impact on young tenants in Maltby, which the Youth Peer Group Workers will play a key role in identifying and supporting.

“We believe young people should have the power to shape the future of Maltby. By giving them a stronger voice, we can create real, positive change together. We really hope our grant application succeeds so we are able to employ two Youth Peer Support Workers, as it will be a big step towards making this happen.”
