We’re proud to share that Daryl Williams, Programme Lead for the Promoting Independence Project, is featured on this year’s Big Issue Changemaker list. Daryl was recognised in the Housing and homelessness category for his work on the Promoting Independence Project, a service that supports people to live independently in their own home.

“I’ve been given outstanding help from the team. I’ve moved from a care home into supported accommodation, which I love – but now I’m excited about getting my own flat.”

The Big Issue Changemaker list celebrates people and organisations who are creating positive change, and the housing and homeless category features individuals that are ‘striving to secure safe housing for all’.

Our Promoting Independence Project works with people to settle and flourish in their community – so far, the team has supported 60 people to move into their new home. They also work with our customers to develop new skills, manage and improve their health, and achieve their goals. A big congratulations to our team and customers for all your fantastic achievements, and to all the other Big Issue Changemakers.

“I am very privileged to lead such a great team, who are dedicated and enthusiastic about helping people to flourish and thrive back in the community. I have always been passionate and motivated to work with partners to make improvements to the system, embrace innovation, and offer better support for our customers – and I think this has enabled the programme to be a success.”
