We are working with Barnsley Council and other local organisations to provide a new Pathways to Work service in Barnsley. Pathways to Work provides personalised employment support for people with health conditions, caring responsibilities, and for young people aged 16 to 24.
The service builds on The Pathways to Work Commission, established in Barnsley, with the support of the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, that aimed to answer one key question:
‘How can Barnsley enable all of its working age residents, particularly those further from the labour market, to achieve pathways to employment?
Barnsley is just one of nine places chosen to pilot the expansion of the nationally recognised Pathways to Work Commission that brings together health, wellbeing, skills, and employment support.
SYHA will be playing a pivotal role to support communities across Barnsley to find and thrive in work. Helen Phoenix, Head of Work and Wellbeing at SYHA said:
“We’re so pleased to be delivering employment support to communities in Barnsley, to help people find, stay and thrive in work. As a housing association, we have great experience in helping people to settle and live well in their community, and we’re looking forward to working with other local partner organisations to support more than 300 people this year to meet their employment goals and flourish in work.”
Our new Pathways to Work service will be part of SYHA’s Work and Wellbeing services.
