In May 2023, the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) issued a Regulatory Judgement downgrading SYHA to non-compliant Governance and Financial Viability gradings (G3/V3). On Wednesday 28 January, the RSH officially withdrew the Regulatory Judgement noting that:

“SYHA submitted an improvement plan and offered a voluntary undertaking (VU) which the regulator accepted in March 2024.  The regulator has determined that the VU has been honoured.”

This means that the RSH has recognised the significant improvement that has been made to SYHA’s governance, and accepted that all actions committed to by the SYHA Board have been completed.

Place for People (PfP) is currently rated C1, G1, V2, and as part of PfP we too carry this rating. Both fulfilling the plan and joining PfP confirms that we are a well-managed, stable organisation with good governance embedded across the business. We look forward to working with teams across the group to provide high-quality homes, services and support.

“The completion of the regulatory plan is testament to the work that has been done by colleagues across SYHA, and their commitment to continuous improvement and ensuring we’re providing great homes and services for our customers. Thank you to the RSH, our Board, customers and colleagues for your ongoing support.”
