Today marks both World Homeless Day and World Mental Health Day.

These two subjects are very close to our hearts. Our LiveWell services provide not only homes, but crucial support and opportunities that help homeless people or those living with a mental health condition to recover, develop their skills, and meet their goals.

“I couldn’t have done anything like this without the help and support from the Indigo Project. My keyworker has been amazing.”

An Indigo Project customer

“I can’t describe how happy I am with the support I get. I have a nice little flat and my own space. I feel at peace and feel excited that I will be here forever – thank you.”

A Cuthbert Bank customer

“My key worker is ‘marvellous’. I’m impressed at how quickly they had got a replacement oven and shower repair. I would like to ‘stay in SYHA homes forever.”

A LiveWell customer

“I used to wonder if work would make my mental health worse. It didn’t – it gave me back structure, trust, and purpose. I’m not just surviving anymore – I’m thriving.”

A Good Work customer

Over 200 colleagues work within our LiveWell directorate, which is 48% of our total workforce.  They work directly with our customers in roles including keyworkers, employment specialists, work and health coaches and peer support workers across 26 services within our four portfolios:

  • Supported Housing
  • Mental Health services
  • Homelessness prevention
  • Work & Wellbeing

We’re currently recruiting for key workers within our mental health services – you can find out more about the two roles here.

Our WorkWell service launched in October 2024 and is supporting people with health conditions across South Yorkshire to find, stay or return to work. We are providing the service in partnership with South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA).

Since October 2024, WorkWell has supported over 1300 people and 97% said they were satisfied or very satisfied with WorkWell.

Another fantastic project, is Changing Futures. It creates opportunities for people who have experienced multiple disadvantage – including homelessness, domestic abuse, and mental health conditions – to improve local systems, strategy and support. We work with brilliant people and organisations to deliver the Changing Futures programme in Sheffield.

Our Changing Futures Co-production Associates use their insight, talents and lived experience to design, provide and evaluate services in the city, and you can learn more about their work on the Changing Futures website. We’re currently looking for more volunteer Co-production Associates to join us – find out more about the role and apply.

We’d like to thank our customers, teams, partners and funders who have worked with us on our homeless and mental health services and support.
