Who would have thought growing your lemons could be so simple? It really is, and Denise, who has lived in her SYHA home for over 50 years, explains how.

All you need is a lemon – it truly is easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Step 1: Halve your lemon

Step 2: Take out the pips

Step 3: Dry them on a kitchen roll

Step 4: Once dry, you will see a pale skin, gently peel this away and you’ll be left with a small seed

Step 5: Plant each of them in a pot with compost, keeping it moist, but not wet, indoors

Step 6: After a couple of weeks, you should see two leaves sprouting from each pip – if the weather is good, put your pots outside, but take care to watch out for cold nights and too much rain

Step 7: Enjoy watching it grow and eventually you’ll have your very own, home-grown lemons 😊
