This November marks sixty years since the release of Cathy Come Home. Our first CEO, John Belcher, founded the organisation after watching the film – he, like so many others, was inspired to take action to end homelessness for people and families in South Yorkshire.
Decades on, it’s devastating to still see homelessness so prevalent across the country. However, I am so proud to be part of an organisation that provides homes, support, safety, and security for local people. It’s been great to see how SYHA is innovating, improving, and continuing to fulfil its purpose throughout this Annual Review – our commitment to our communities is as strong as ever. A huge thank you to our customers and teams for your amazing work, feedback and support over the last year.
It’s also important to acknowledge that SYHA celebrates its 55 year anniversary next year. To recognise this significant occasion, we’d love to share more about our customers and colleagues – the people that make SYHA what it is. And, looking to the future, our partnership with PfP is already bringing more investment and opportunities to our organisation and the region. Over the next 12 months – and beyond! – we will work with PfP to continue to offer great homes, support, and services to people and families in South Yorkshire.
