The Chartered Institute of Housing has launched an exciting new document for change called It’s not okay: a guide to tackling stigma in social housing.

This guide has been created, in partnership with the See the Person tenant committee, for landlords and housing professionals. It is full of tenants’ thoughts and experiences, and examples of how some housing organisations are already working with their tenants to tackle stigma and make positive changes.

We’d like to say another huge thank you to our much valued tenant Pam Hankinson for all her continued hard work as a committee member, and for all her contributions in helping bring this guide to life.

“We wanted to set the story straight and see a more balanced representation and understanding of social housing and the people who live in it […] We wanted to reflect the volunteering, work and community involvement we’d all experienced.”

An excerpt from the guide

We’ve been involved in campaigning about the stigma of social housing for over 3 years, and this is another great step forward in helping to change perceptions of social housing.
